Reem Acra Fall 2015

Discreet side pockets sewn into the gowns? This could just be a really good selling point in my opinion.  Coupled with lace, tulle, and appliqués, Reem Acra’s Fall Winter 2015 is simply beautiful and thoughtful.

With your morning coffee in hand, do scroll down to see my favourites from the collection. The show happened on 10 October 2014. Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful week ahead!

Ode to the Past: Black and Gold Theme

Editorial Purplelue.com

Remembering this project I did with some friends last year makes me nostalgic. I enlisted the help of a few creative minds and we produced this editorial from scratch. We had zero budget and only our novice backgrounds to try something different. In sum, we were quite pleased with the whole experience!

DIY Purplelue.com

This editorial also features a series of DIY projects, from the animal-shaped figure you see in the picture above to how to make your own table setting and cake table – using things you might already have at home. Be sure to catch the videos and blog posts related to this by clicking on the links below. Christmas is fast approaching! The Black + Gold theme never goes out of style. Enjoy!

Designer Spotlight: Christos 2015

I am a fan of Christos. I’ve written about the brand previously and given a chance, I would wear a Christos gown if I were to get married all over again. So it’s no surprise that I’d be featuring it again starting with their Fall 2015.

The things I love about the collection: it was all about white lace, a stark contrast to the colour of Spring 2015. Here we a see a softer shade of lace, of satin, of silk. Patchwork. Intricate. Romantic. All the things we can’t say “No” to, right?

It reminds me of the provincial and peaceful pace we have back home. I hope you take delight and enjoy this one, have a happy weekend!

Same Day Edit: Butts and Paula by Ian Cruz Films

Get ready to be inspired with today’s same day edit video from Ian Cruz Films. He captured Butts & Paula’s biggest day surrounded with such a fun group of friends and family. My favourite part was seeing the bride walk down the aisle and her entourage watching in exciting  anticipation of Butt’s reaction. You must see Paula in her gorgeous Cary Santiago ensemble as she weds Butts in St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Parish, Magallanes followed by a garden-inspired reception in Enderun College. Hair & Make-up was by MakeUp by Madge and the day was coordinated by Empire Weddings. The photographs were taken by Ian Santillan — and I cannot wait to feature it here on the blog soon!

Currently Loving House of Serafina’s 2014 Bridal Collection

Nowadays we are in constant search of the latest trends and new collections that will inspire us. We see them on runway shows, Pinterest, Instagram, every social media channel spills the beans on all things “trendy”, “what’s in”, top 10. But I guess with the sea of trends out there, I prefer to swim against the current and pick out the ones that will last a long time.

The 2014 Bridal Collection from House of Serafina is a testament of quality, craftsmanship, and ownership; a kind that reflects originality and hard work. It’s no surprise why I am currently loving the brand’s collection of lariat necklaces, Cinderella bag, Rock Candy Clutches, and semi-precious stones  – all of which will last so much longer than this season’s must haves and the next.

Scroll down and be ready to get dipped in some swoon-worthy elegant pieces and jewels!

These pieces are amazing as gifts for entourage. But best news for brides out there, co-founder Arlu Gomez says they can customise designs, colours, and materials. “We work with brides directly or through wedding planners, to ensure all aspects of design and function are taken into consideration.”

I had a recent chat with co-founder Cristina Gomez on their idea behind this collection and she says, “Your wedding is the most important day of your life and we’re honoured to have the opportunity to be part of so many celebrations across the Philippines. Our aim is to make our brides be even more beautiful and their wedding even more memorable. ”

Pieces are available for purchase online at HouseofSerafina.com, private trunk shows in Manila and Singapore and select retail partners.

Lihi Hod Bridal Collection 2014

“For me, each bride is her own world. Every bride has her special fantasy, desire and dream. For me, the process of creating the bridal gown is like making dreams become reality. Every bride receives our full attention and every process of designing and creation leads to a dress that is truly one of a kind.”

– Lihi Hod

Blush-1Lay-2Lay-1
Leading bridal gowns designer Lihi Hod launches a new collection inspired by vintage jewelry. Textile affluence, layers and transparencies along with complex couture embroideries create a new ravishing collection.

“Try to imaging that moment when you open an old jewelry box” Lihi explains. “You might discover an exceptional collection shining and glimmering, full of depth and sensitively crafted. I wanted to recreate this moving moment through my dresses. To turn them into jewelry in their own right”.

Dorian-1Belle-1Buttercup-Gray

For over a year Hod collected textiles from around the globe to use in the new collection, aspiring to create a rich and diverse look for each dress in the collection. Depth is created by combining layers of opaque and transparent fabrics such as silk chiffons and tulles with a variety of laces. The color palette ranges from gleaming whites to cream to nudes.

Swarovski crystals, glass beads and gemstones were used in true couture techniques. Hours of embroidering to the layers of supple fabric resulted in a harmonious look, resembling the jewelry the designer had dreamed of.

The result – A collection of unique, flattering dresses, embodying a nonchalant, delicate boho-chic look. The dresses all incorporate body suits or shapers that provide a contemporary look and allow for narrow silhouettes and flattering low cut backs.

Lihi’s dresses, ever in tune with current fashions, include this season two super-hot pieces: A maxi skirt, paired with a trendy midriff-revealing cropped top, and an embroidered ensemble consisting of pants and a light tank top.

DIY and Inspiration Part Two

Here’s part two of the blog’s DIY and Inspiration Series. Awhile back I wrote about how to set up a dining table and with a black and gold colour palette. This time, I will feature a video on how to set up a cake table with the same design and colour palette in mind. This serves as a guide for the basics as the colour choice is ultimately yours.

This video was done in collaboration with Design + Craft, Nadine’s Bakeshop – she bakes ridiculously delicious and detailed cakes, ZebraStar – a videographer and photographer duo, and Ink Scribbler – she is a calligraphy artist who makes amazing designs for a variety of occasions!

Be sure to check out the video here and I’m sure you’ll get to steal an idea or two!

Liam and Cath | A Rustic Tagaytay Wedding | Cherryblocks

Temperature is rising and summer officially kicks in! What better way to welcome it than with today’s must-see wedding. Set in Chapel on a Hill in Tagaytay, Liam and Cath wed in a beautiful church and had their reception in Hacienda Isabella, a sprawling garden tucked away from the bustling city. Cath was in a beautiful lace design by Rhett Eala and Liam was dapper and all-smiles seeing his bride walk down the aisle. My favourites from this set captured by Cherryblocks were the portraits of the couple and the bright and airy feel of the photographs. To top it off, the bride incorporated a couple of DIYs in the reception, making it truly their own reflective of the couple’s fun and easygoing personalities.

Be sure to take time to scroll down these photos as I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead!

Martin and Stefanie | Classic Black Tie | Mangored

Today is a lucky day for us! We get a look into this gorgeous black tie affair of Martin and Stefanie’s wedding. These photos with a dramatic black and white play taken by Mangored transforms the couple’s wedding into a cinematic-flair that not only evokes a unique perspective but also a style that I can only guess is reflective of the couple and nobody else.

In this set, I love the photo where the bride exchanges an intimate moment with her bridesmaid as well as how confident the bride and groom stand on their most special day!  I hope you will enjoy these lovely pictures as much as I did – and I hope you get an inspirational thought or two perhaps. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Indonesia Times Three

As we turned 30 early this year, my husband and I decided to invest in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, doing regular exercise, and giving in to a few indulgences. One such indulgence is travel. After all, it’s good to get away and recharge. Indonesia is a good choice because of one, proximity and two, its beaches that we both miss from our Philippines. In the past two months, we have had the chance to visit Indonesia three times. Batam, Bali, and Bintan.

For us, summer time came early. photo-2

Inspiration and DIY Series Part Two

Picking up from my last DIY post, Inspiration and DIY Series Part One, here is the video we prepared for you! It features simple steps on how to set up your own tablescape or dining set. Earlier I wrote we were inspired with a black and gold colour palette. But the colour choice is secondary to the more important essentials I think you can pick up from our video clip here. Be sure to stay tuned for more DIY videos exclusively featured here in Purplelue Wedding!

Whether you are in the wedding industry or otherwise, table setting need not be pompous or overkill. Sometimes it is harder to practice restraint than doing so many things at the same time. For this set up, I can break down this post with the following essentials:

  1. Start with a center piece. We chose a tall singular glass vase with white roses, loosely spread out for a cool and modern feel.
  2. Add side arrangements. We used small black pots with light pink flowers and ruby red vase with sprigs of baby’s breath. The pink flowers help bridge the gold and black colour palette we were going for while baby’s breath adds more flower power without being too distracting.
  3. Inject character in the setting. We used a vintage mirror with gold metal design that was in line with our palette but at the same time adds some character to the setting.
  4. Incorporate DIY. The DIY elements found here were fun to do because we were 100% hands-on. The animal napkin holder could be a conversation starter among guests and it is very easy to do. To be practical, one can re-use them for another occasion. The menu card was also a DIY from the type of paper, colour, and font used.
  5. Add texture. We used a gold fabric with a textured feel to add a dimension into the entire table setting. It turned out great and to think we only used a fabric cloth for this! If you are planning to do this, make sure the width of the fabric fits the dimension of the table.
  6. Add ambience. This can be achieved through candles especially if you are planning to do this for your wedding. With so many instances for dim lighting, candles add a romantic and soft feel to the table setting. To make it more effective, add a couple more candles spread throughout your table.

Pao and Irish | Radiant Black Tie Affair | Mango Red Photography

It’s been awhile since my last post. I had to go to Manila for back-to-back weddings and boy was that fun! It was so good to see family and friends again. Now I’m back and I am so thrilled to be blogging again. Let’s start the weekend right with these beautiful photos once again from Mango Red. The wedding of Pao and Irish was truly filled with radiant cheer and elegance. The dress from Ritchie Ortega-Torres was stunning and seeing the bride walk down the aisle lined with baby’s breath flowers is a personal favourite.

I hope you will enjoy this feature as much as I did!

Advice from the bride: Wedding planning, just like the wedding itself, is an experience to be shared. Taking on the task alone can be quite daunting so don’t hesitate to seek help from your family and friends, and of course, your husband-to-be. Get them involved in activities like oculars and food-tastings – these will prove to be productive.
